Sabbatical Colloquium Delivered

On January 15, 2024, I gave my sabbatical colloquium–a fancy word for a talk, in this case, an account of what I did during my sabbatical vacation. With my title “What the Fool Says,” maybe you get the picture. Aside from discussing the reading and writing I did, and how that connected with my overall interest in the nature, mode, and techniques of comedy and humour, I offered an update on my second collection of Mulder stories, The Healing Arts, which I’ve been revising under the mentorship of Joseph Kertes from the Humber School for Writers. I also shared that I finished drafting and am currently revising my first novel, tentatively titled Milksop, which is Evan Mulder’s coming-of-age story, a novel I drafted through working with The Novelry. And lastly, I read one of the stories I wrote on my sabbatical, “Lickety-Split.” Thanks again to the support of the Canada Council for the Arts! If you’re interested in my talk, it was recorded on zoom: I’d be happy to share it with you.
